11 weeks:

Tuesday’s 6th January -24rd March

*No class 17th February

Session times:

Afternoon session 1:00PM-3:30PM

Course description:

A friendly and relaxed weekly class open to all skill levels. With the support of your tutor Yael , you will be guided through your own individual projects while receiving plenty of ideas, technical support, demonstrations and inspiration along the way. You may wish to try lots of different ideas and techniques, or possibly focus on one or 2 skills. Perhaps you would like to make your own functional items (bowls, mugs etc) or create sculptural or decorative pieces.

As you work on your projects with the support of your tutor, you’ll learn various ceramic techniques (slab building, coil pots, wheel throwing, slip decoration and many more) and discover how to achieve the best results from your finished pieces.

If you prefer a more structured approach, we are very happy to set you projects and create individual plans—just let us know what works best for you.

The class is suitable for complete beginners as well as experienced potters. You’ll get creative and technical guidance in both hand-building and throwing.

Our studio is well equipped, with nine wheels plus a kick wheel, a slab roller, extruder, a wide range of plaster moulds, and lots of tools. We also have a broad selection of glazes and slips for you to explore.

Class sizes are usually between 8-12, for classes that have predominantly wheel throwers we keep class sizes to no more than 10. With our small class sizes you will get a good amount of individual attention and support.

Once you’re confident working independently, you’ll be able to join our add-on drop-in sessions and get first priority for future weekly courses.

What to bring:

Please bring with you an apron and hand towel, all other tools will be provided.

Short nails and long hair tied back are helpful too.

Additional charges:

Clay is charged at £5/kg and includes glazes and firing charges.

Age Suitability:

16+

Terms and Conditions:

We understand that a weekly course can be a big commitment, and where possible we’ll try to offer class swaps within the course block. However, this can’t be guaranteed, and we’re not able to offer drop-in sessions to make up missed classes.

Once you’ve booked, we’re unable to offer a refund if you decide you can no longer attend. We will, however, try to fill your place and, if we’re able to, we’ll issue a refund.
