Thursday 14th, Friday 15th, and Saturday 16th August | 10:30 AM – 4:30 PM

An in depth 3 day wheel-throwing course, suitable for complete beginners to more experienced potters looking to improve. You will learn how to prepare, center, and throw your clay to form cylinders, bowls, and more complex forms too. With a small class size of 6 you will receive plenty of support, top tips, problem solving advice and encouragement from your tutor, Jenny, throughout the day.

With lots of time to practice, this more in depth session is perfect for those who want to develop and improve their skills at the wheel. Or for more experienced potters who wish to take on a more challenging project; like teapots or other more time consuming forms. You may even wish to have a try on our traditional kick wheel. There will be a short break for lunch each day, and you are welcome to stay in the studio, relax, or continue practicing.

Each day will be tailored to individuals experience and end of course goals, but a rough guide to the 3 days is as follows:

Day 1: Preparing and wedging clay. Centering and throwing cylinders, bowls and possibly other forms.

Day 2: Continuation and development of skills learned on day 1, fine tuning and development of technique.

Day 3: Trimming work, pulling and attaching handles, decorating with slip or underglazes.
