We have lots of wheel throwing workshops for all levels, from complete beginners to more advanced throwers. In these classes you will use the potters wheel, to ‘throw’ clay to make bowls, cylinders, possibly vases and more. For our more specific wheel throwing projects details will be in the course description, alongside course suitability (eg candlesticks/lemon juicers/lidded pots)

What to expect:
Lots of tutor guidance, support and problem solving
Time to practice, with support.
Knowledgeable and experienced tutors, all with their own arts practices or ceramics practice.
For beginners wheel throwing is quite physical and it is typically very challenging. It is also very rewarding and satisfying too.
Who it’s for:
Most of our throwing workshops are 16+ but some will be suitable for younger people, check course description.
If a class requires experience this will be noted in the description, eg (must be able to center clay or be able to throw 2kg0
Absolute beginners welcome; our tutors are patient, encouraging, and experienced at soliving all the problem
Practical bits:
Small class sizes, no more than 8
All materials and tools provided, but its helpful if you can bring an apron or old clothes
Finished pieces are glazed and kiln-fired; ready for pickup a few weeks after class, typically 4-8 weeks.
You will get messy, but it will wash off.
If possible short nails and long hair tied back help.
